House O by Sou Fujimoto
House O is designed by the almost legendary architect Sou Fujimoto. The house melts together with the hard rocks of the beach, incorporating it and its large panoramic windows into the coastline beautifully. The house is made out of wonderful gray concrete that has been cast leaving a thin wooden pattern on the inner walls and a bigger almost rock sized pattern on the outer walls. But I’m afraid that House O is no more. Chiba was hit hard by the earthquake and the following tsunami on March 11 and as you can see the house is very close to the water.
